ULMA to showcase pioneering packaging solutions at PPMA 19
The packaging machinery supplier will display a range of equipment at the exhibition, including one of ULMA’s most popular vertical bagging machines - the VTI 640 Vertical Form Fill and Seal (VFFS) machine.
For the first time in the UK, ULMA will be showcasing the TFS 200 MSV, the latest in their compact thermoformer range. The machine is designed to provide manufacturers with the capability to produce three pack styles - MAP, Skin, and Vacuum, using a single machine.
If a UK-first wasn’t enough, ULMA will be exhibiting not one, but two Horizontal Flow Wrappers (HFFS). The FR200 HFFS packaging machine which makes a three-sealing pillow pack with medium-high performance levels, will be joined by the Flow Vac 35. With a single barrier and shrink film, the Flow Vac 35 creates a one side open bag, into which the product can be loaded and then vacuum-sealed.
In addition, attendees can find out more about two of ULMA’s most innovative solutions, the Tight Bag and Venturi systems, which will be demonstrated throughout the event. The Tight Bag air extraction packaging solution works by pulling air from individual bags using a patented jaw arrangement in the cross-seal area. Packaged vertically, the bag is sealed while air is drawn out – to reduce packaging waste and the risk of product damage.
The Venturi system, a pioneering packaging solution in the UK market, creates a vacuum underneath the product and accelerates it down the tube. This means that, items such as spinach or salad leaves are pulled down to the bottom of the bag at speed before the pack is closed. As a result, damage to the product is mitigated, and the need for costly rework due to products being trapped in the seal is removed.
Chris Pickles, Managing Director at ULMA Packaging UK, comments: “As regular exhibitors at PPMA, we know what it takes to engage with visitors. The event provides the perfect platform for ULMA to showcase a wide range of innovative packaging solutions. From tray sealing systems, thermoformers, HFFS and VFFS, there is no packaging need or challenge that can’t be catered for and met.”
“ULMA UK is environmentally-minded and is always seeking to introduce and improve efficiencies in the supply chain. As well as helping businesses achieve their operational goals and delivery targets, one of our top priorities is to help food producers and Britain’s leading supermarkets reduce the amount of plastic packaging and film entering the marketplace, while using the latest in energy-saving components.”
