Less packaging materials

Less packaging materials

Thinner film, optimised volumes and less scrap.

REDUCTION is another strategy that directly affects the environmental impact of packaging. Reducing the amount of film used in packaging has a direct impact on improving packaging sustainability.
Using ECODESIGN criteria when designing our customers' packaging allows us to achieve significant reductions in the amount of plastic used .
Thermoformed packaging with thinner films
The amount of film used in thermoformed packaging can be reduced by using thinner films. Packaging with the same strength and features as obtained with traditional packaging materials can be achieved for both MAP and vacuum packaging through a combination of packaging design and suitable forming processes.

Shrink wrap films
These are packs made with shrink wrap films that reduce the amount of plastic used by up to 70%.

Skin
Vacuum skin packs use materials which, despite being so thin, have optimum barrier properties, therefore helping to keep the product in optimum conditions for a longer shelf life.

LeafSkinTM
LeafSkinTM packaging replaces a large part of the structural plastic with cardboard, reducing the amount of plastic used in the packaging by up to 80%, in addition to the other benefits of skin packs.

Eliminating the plastic trays traditionally used to package some products is another strategy that brings a significant reduction in the amount of plastic used. It is a strategy that can be used in both MAP packaging and for packaging used to preserve food hygiene.

Eliminating traditional plastic trays in favour of wood or paper fibre brings significant reductions in the amount of plastic used in packaging. This technique can be used for both MAP packaging and for packaging used to preserve product hygiene. Replacing the plastic tray with alternative materials can cut the amount of plastic in the packaging by up to 70-80%.

Oversized packaging is one of the most common sources of excess plastic, so optimising its dimensions is a key way to achieve more sustainable packaging.
Technologies such as VENTURITM or FLOW-VAC® allow us to produce packaging that is optimised in terms of the amount of plastic used.
